This month's Bulletin includes Eric Pickles' attempts to rid our streets of unncessary street clutter (road signs, bollards etc), which he says are ruining the appearance of our urban areas. We also have a number of stories concerning the theme of community engagement - almost a special issue if you will! So, we have news from the coalition Government regarding empowering rural communities to build the homes and facilities they require, regardless of whether that fits with the local Council's intentions. We have news of a new project which aims to make public consultation in design decisions far simpler and more responsive, and we have news on some new Scottish guidance for effective community engagement. In addition, we have an update on the Big Society's efforts to engage the public thus far, and a piece concerning unused land in urban areas.
