Welcome to the June 2012 edition of the Place Bulletin. This month’s issue features more goings on from our high streets/shopping areas; with the first twelve successful Portas pilot towns announced, the Government’s new local shop parades plan in preparation, and a story concerning the effect local food networks can have on our high streets. We also have a piece from ATCM involving MPS being encouraged to join a parliamentary campaign to help their town centres. As you can see, our high streets and town centres are certainly a very hot topic at the moment! In addition, we have an interesting related article from the Guardian which looks at the ongoing thorny issue of privatised public space, a subject which we at IPM have been involved with in the past. Plus we have some exciting news on the IPM conference which will take place in February 2013 – get your diaries out!
